Planning a month in Turkey
A month lets you combine Istanbul and the history of Anatolia with a slow final stretch along the Mediterranean. This route starts in Istanbul and ends in Antalya.
- Week 1: Istanbul
- Week 2: Cappadocia and Konya
- Week 3: Ephesus, the Aegean coast and Pamukkale
- Week 4: The Turquoise Coast: Fethiye, Ölüdeniz, Kaş and Antalya
How to pace yourself
Use domestic flights and comfortable long-distance buses, and stay three to five nights in each place. On the coast, a hire car gives the most freedom.
Long-stay practicalities
- Buy a local SIM card or eSIM; foreign phones may be blocked after a period without registration, so check the rules.
- Choose apartments with a kitchen on the coast.
- Book domestic flights and hotels early around the religious holidays.
- Pharmacies (eczane) are everywhere and helpful.
- Keep copies of your documents in your email or cloud storage.
Best time for a month
April to June and September to October. July and August are very hot inland but ideal on the coast.
